Director of Programs

Application deadline: Sunday, 27/07

High Impact Professionals (HIP) is an international nonprofit that helps experienced professionals use their careers to create as much positive impact as possible. Through our flagship programs -- the Impact Accelerator Program and the Talent Directory -- we’ve already supported over 60 professionals to transition into high-impact roles and facilitated millions of dollars in counterfactual impact through our community (see our 2024 impact report). Now, we’re excited to hire a Director of Programs to lead and grow these initiatives and expand our capacity to connect even more professionals with high-impact opportunities. In this role, you’ll work closely with our Executive Director to find new and better ways to support professionals eager to maximize their impact through their work.

This is a role where you can make real impact, co-design our strategy and programs, and deepen your experience in entrepreneurial problem-solving and stakeholder engagement. HIP is a young, growing organization and you’ll have the chance to shape our growth at a pivotal moment. From a pilot cohort of 19 people in 2023, our Impact Accelerator Program has supported over 120 participants in 2024 - with almost 40 professionals successfully transitioning into high-impact roles - and we expect to support over 200 participants in 2025. You’ll help take this momentum to the next level, building on what’s working and unlocking even more impact. You’ll join a network of interesting, passionate, mission-driven people and partners from diverse backgrounds and organizations around the world, and you’ll have meaningful responsibility from day one, with plenty of room to grow as we grow.

About High Impact Professionals (HIP)

Through our programs we provide the structure, resources, and community to help professionals turn good intentions into meaningful results. Our Impact Accelerator Program offers structured career transition support and has already helped nearly 50 people move into high-impact roles - whether that’s working at or founding high-impact organizations, founding to give, or serving on the boards of impactful nonprofits. It’s also inspired over 40 people to take giving pledges, including 15 new 🔸10% Pledges.

Our Talent Directory now lists over 3,500 professionals keen to join high-impact organizations, including more than 180 top candidates who are finalists from rigorous hiring rounds at leading orgs. Over 200 high-impact organizations already use it to source talent. It’s facilitated almost 20 confirmed new hires at high-impact organizations to date, and continues to grow.

HIP was incubated through Ambitious Impact’s Charity Entrepreneurship program in 2021 and has since been funded by Open Philanthropy, EA Funds, Ambitious Impact’s Seed Funding Network, and individual donors. HIP is fiscally sponsored by Players Philanthropy Fund.

Success Measures of Director of Programs

  • In the first month of your role:

    • You’ll get up to speed on HIP’s strategy, programs, and operations, and start identifying areas for greater impact.

    • You’ll meet key stakeholders and begin exploring how experienced professionals can increase their impact and support others to do the same.

    • You’ll take ownership of critical workstreams, such as running the Impact Accelerator Program, refining vetting processes, and strengthening relationship management systems.

  • By the third month of your role

    • You’ll have started developing and testing strategies to help more professionals transition into high-impact roles.

    • You’ll have begun building strong connections with potential partners and collaborators to expand HIP’s reach and strengthen support for professionals moving into high-impact careers.

  • Have excellent people skills and enjoy engaging with curious professionals and partners across the high-impact space.

  • Are organized, adaptable, and able to manage your time well in a changing environment.
